Journey to Salesforce. It is a cloud-based platform accessible through computers, phones, and tablets, making work possible from anywhere and keeping you updated.
WHAT EXACTLY IS SALESFORCE?
Salesforce, a customer relationship management (CRM) platform helps your business run smoothly with your various departments (marketing, sales, service, etc) functioning as one unit and seamlessly complement their work for better efficiency and overall productivity reducing the unproductive time. It is a cloud-based platform accessible through computers, phones, and tablets, making work possible from anywhere and keeping your customers happy everywhere.
Salesforce has made work easily accessible even in remote areas and has made learning possible at your fingertips and that too for FREE, with its interactive learning platform https://trailhead.salesforce.com/trails.
HOW TO START YOUR JOURNEY WITH SALESFORCE?
1. “#Journey2Salesforce”
The best way to begin your salesforce journey is “#Journey2Salesforce” (https://trailhead.salesforce.com/en/users/journeytosalesforce/trailmixes/your-journey-2salesforce-learning-path) which is a Trailmix (collection of learning resources like modules, trails or projects akin to chapters of a textbook) of salesforce.
There are 4 trailmixes in the “#Journey2Salesforce” resource with attractive gifts or ‘schwag’ as salesforce calls them for completion. You get a free salesforce schwag or a gift on completion of Trailmix (1) and also on completing all the trails in the Trailmix.
Has learning ever been so rewarding?
- Salesforce training with filters and sorting!
The salesforce training platform ‘Trailhead’ has an easy-to-operate UI with filters and searches to accurately display what we want to learn.
One can filter the lessons based on beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
And based on the type of trails (lessons) to be displayed.
One can filter based on salesforce roles as well
- Trail completion based on credentials.
Salesforce has a system to validate the knowledge of its user by way of certifications and superbadges. It includes a hierarchy of lessons wherein you need to complete a number of trails to be able to unlock a superbadge, and a number of trails+superbadges (prerequisites) to be able to appear for a salesforce certification exam.
Every superbadge you target to complete has a list of trails as pre-requisites you need to complete. Same goes for certifications as shown below.
In the above screengrab you can see the admin superbadge ‘Business Administration Specialist’ with its 4 pre-requisite trails marked by the red arrow. Similar pre-requisites are shown after you click any superbadge. You can target a superbadge you wish to complete and complete their trails to learn that particular module/specialisation.
Similar pre-requisites are shown when you click on a specific salesforce certification based on choice of your role, and after selection of ‘prepare for …’ heading under the salesforce certification you chose.
IT IS TO BE NOTED THAT MERE COMPLETION OF TRAILS, MODULES, PROJECTS AND SUPERBADGES AREN’T TESTIMONY TO YOUR KNOWLEDGE BUT SALESFORCE CERTIFICATION WITH ITS RIGOROUS TESTING AND MALPRACTICES CHECK IS THE ULTIMATE PROOF OF YOUR SALESFORCE SUBJECT EXPERTISE.
‘
- Salesforce quests
Salesforce rewards you with gifts/certification vouchers on completion of quests. Quests are monthly tasks or challenges that you need to complete before the month ends to be eligible to win the rewards. Each task is either to complete a particular trail/module/superbadge or a certification within a specified period. This involves completion and earning of badges through trails too.
What if I encounter a difficulty and need a solution/help?
The salesforce ecosystem has a medium for customer/user collaboration and connection called trailblazer (one who uses trailhead) community. One can ask questions, offer solutions to questions asked, join or organise a meet (in person or virtual) or join groups with fellow trailblazers. In this way one not only learns from the platform but also uses it to guide or mentor others and grow together as a community.
After all humans are social animals!!
In the trailhead platform our only aim is to learn as much as one can while badges, superbadges, and certifications are proof of wisdom (!! Only if completed and maintained in the right spirit without malpractices !!)
Learning Milestones
After completion of every trail, you earn badges and points. In the above screengrab, you can see the required number of badges and points you need to climb up the hierarchy of milestones eventually to reach ranger rank. Is it the summit? No…. you can progress to become 2x ranger (twice ranger, with double the badges than that of a ranger), 3x Ranger, and so on…
Your goal should be to zero down on your preferred role (admin, developer, etc); complete the trails for that particular role or a combination of them. Grab superbadges and certifications you need to get subject specialization in your preferred role/job profile and progress the ladder of salesforce milestones by becoming a ranger rank and more.
Note: Ranks and certifications are nothing if you don’t know to implement your learning in the work environment and projects assigned to you! So, make sure you don’t use dumps/cheats to get credentials and con yourself!
